This 2-day workshop teaches students and coaches how to pragmatically self-assess the most common limiting factors in splits flexibility acquisition AND how to address them with the most efficient, progressive exercises & programming strategies.

Because here's the thing: there are SO many different biomechanical and physiological factors that influence flexibility acquisition - WAY beyond just stretching tight muscles. If we don't know what they are - or how to test ourselves for them - we can't really be sure that our flexibility training adequately addresses OUR unique barriers to flexibility.

In this two-day workshop, you'll learn why traditional passive stretching methods often plateau, and discover evidence-based techniques to advance your splits practice – whether you're just beginning or working through sticking points.

This practical workshop will provide:

  • A clear breakdown of the biomechanical and neurophysiological components that influence splits flexibility,
  • Practical self-assessment techniques to identify your specific mobility restrictions, and
  • Targeted drills and exercises to effectively address the barriers to your splits flexibility that were uncovered in the self-assessment portion.

We'll work through all of the above steps for square splits, middle splits, and pancake flexibility.

By the end of this workshop, you'll know EXACTLY what's causing your splits flexibility plateau, and how to revamp your flexibility training program to safely progress your splits.

This workshop welcomes practitioners of all levels. Beginners will build a strong foundation in proper technique, while advanced students will gain new insights to refine their practice.

Prequel: Watch the 30 minute foundational concepts lecture

Class 1 (2 hours) will focus on learning the foundational concepts of anatomy, including the biomechanical and physiological barriers to splits flexibility. We will go through the self-assessment, and by the end of day 1 you will know exactly what your barriers to splits flexibility are!

Class 2 (2.5 hours) is all about exercises: you'll learn which exercises are going to help you address the barriers uncovered in day 1, and how to progress them after the workshop is over, ensuring that you have ALL the tools needed to safely and efficiently continue your targeted flexibility programming.

Recordings are all available for streaming for ONE year!

Tools Needed:

  • An angle measuring app (details on this are at the end of the pre-recorded lecture!)
  • a phone or camera for taking photos for measurement
  • 2-3 yoga blocks
  • A rolled up towel or mobility peanut
  • A few mini bands or looped therabands
  • A yoga strap or dog leash
  • A chair/ottoman
  • a yoga mat's worth of floor space and some wall space
  • a medium resistance superband (like this one) AND a sturdy anchor point (a heavy desk, table, pole, stall bars, etc)
